Complementary Technologies

Organ-Chips and organoids are technologies that can be used together. Organoids provide a robust cell source that contain all of the key cell types of the tissue of interest at physiologically relevant ratios.

Our data has shown that organoids in Organ-Chips offer a significant improvement in functional endpoints and show a transcriptomic profile closer to in vivo than organoids alone. Combining Organ-Chips and organoids also overcomes some of the challenges associated with organoids, for example, the lack of mechanical forces and lack of flow (dynamic microenvironment).

Patient-derived organoids in Organ-Chips can also enable human-relevant disease modeling.
